Adding a TCP/IP Printer under Windows

If you can't use Windows Networking to set up a printer, you can add a local TCP/IP printer. ("Local" means the settings are specified locally, not that the printer is nearby.)

Create a new port (printer port). It will be a "Standard TCP/IP Port".

It defaults to being a "port 9100" printer, which you don't want. Change the port properties to be an LPR/LPD printer, with host name csl-redwood.csl.uiuc.edu.

The Queue name should come from the following table.

Unix nameQueueRoomComment
bclwkeeshond166HP LaserJet 4000 Series PS
dclwcollie167Lexmark Optra S 1625 PS
fclwpoodle153Lexmark Optra S 1625 PS

kclwdescartes139HP LaserJet 2100 Series PS
mclwmcnab 352Apple LaserWriter 16/600 PS

Once you finish the Add TCP/IP Printer wizard, you have to complete the rest of the main Add Printer Wizard by specifying the driver to use. All of our network-attached printers are capable of printing Postscript &tr; .

To test Postscript, use this test file.
